Beacon Meadows Special Dependent District
Public Budget Hearing

The Beacon Meadows Special Dependent District is conducting a public budget
hearing for the purpose of hearing public comment regarding its proposed FY13
budget and 2012 assessment rate. The trustees will vote on the budget and
assessment rate. The hearing will be conducted at the Carrollwood Cultural Center,
4537 Lowell Rd, Tampa, Fl on May 10th, 2012, at 7:30PM.

In accordance with Chapter 286, F.S., the public is advised that if a
person decides to appeal any decision made by the Board of Trustees with
respect to any matter considered at this hearing, he/she will need a record
of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he/she may need to ensure
that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes
the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

All meetings facilities are accessible in accordance with the Americans
with Disabilities Act. Any additional necessary accommodations will be
provided with a 48 hour notice. For more information call 968-1901.

Be involved with your neighborhood ! The Board of Trustees need some new faces. The county requires the board have a quorum of 5 of the possible 7 members to conduct business.

Things will get much worse in Beacon Meadows if the board can not operate due to lack of Trustees.

The ONLY requirement to be on the Board is that you are a registered voter at a Beacon Meadows address. It helps that you care about your neighborhood, and can spare one hour a month.

The board meets at 7:00pm, the second Thursday of each month at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. Meetings last approximately one hour. Come to a meeting !

Neighbor Issues

Complaint: My Neighbor's tree shades my lawn

St. Augustine grass requires a lot of sun, water, fertilizer, pesticides, mowing.... Some municipalities consider grass clipping to be toxic waste and won't accept them in yard waste pickup. Two cycle engines on lawn mowers give off more harmful emissions than your car ! Trees are good for the environment, grass is not. Have an area where grass won't grow due to shade ? Consider planting ferns, a flowering shade garden, or a native drought tolerant ground cover.

Complaint: My Neighbor does something I don't like

If whatever your neighbor is doing is not against the law, then there is not really anything that can be done. Consider being nice and asking them to limit this activity to some time when it will cause you the least distress. Compromise can be a beautiful thing.

Complaint: The house next door is rented by the room

This is a problem, unfortunately it is not illegal to rent a house by the room. The failure of the land lord to screen theses kinds of renters can bring a criminal element into an otherwise quiet, single family subdivision. See the article written my Marlene Sokol about this type of rental, that is very close to home.
